Master the Downhill on a Gravel Bike - Body Position

I hear way too many women tell me that they would be interested in Gravel or Mountain biking but they are too scared of the downhill.

I can totally relate. I finally was beginning to feel comfortable with descending on a bike when I went over my handlebars on a tri bike at 30 mph on a downhill. After my first gravel bike ride, I could barely move my fingers and my shoulders were giving me a tension headache from gripping the brakes so tightly. After a lot of practice and learning some new skills, I’m much better at the descent.

Trish Albert, on the other hand, is excellent at the descent. She’ll go whizzing by me like I’m standing still. On our last gravel ride I convinced her to share some of her tips.
